Dec. 1, 2000 --At the official weigh-in at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino for the world title unification match "Forces of Destruction", Felix "Tito" Trinidad (38-0, 31 KOs) weighed in 1/2 a pound over the 154 pounds limit. Fernando "Ferocious" Vargas (20-0,18 KOs) made the weight at exactly 154 pounds but Trinidad had to shed the extra fraction of a pound by working up a sweat by jogging around the Mandalay Bay. Few minutes later, Felix Trinidad returned and made the weight at exactly 154 pounds. Trinidad won the coin toss and elected to enter the ring second, but Vargas will be announced second by the referee. Both will wear Reyes boxing gloves. Both fighters looked in magnificent shape and ready to prove whose the best pound-for-pound in boxing. The more experienced Felix Trinidad will be defending his WBA Super Welterweight title for the 2nd time this year. The unbeaten, 23 years old, IBF Jr. Middleweight champion, Fernando Vargas will be making his 7th world title defense in his young but impressive career. Notes: Mucho celebrities were roaming around Mandalay Bay during the weigh-in. Former Phoenix Suns' basketball player Charles Barkley was mingling with the crowd and Jamix Foxx of the Jamie Foxx Show was also on hand plus several others.
